Patient: 35-year-old male presents to ED:​

  • 1 day history of:

    • Fatigue

    • Dyspnea, but no cough

    • 97% O2 at rest

    • Diminished AE to L bases

    • Rest of history is healthy

Case 2 Diagnosis

Left Spontaneous Pneumothorax

  • Total collapse of L lung

  • Increased hypodensity in L lung compared to R with no lung markings.

  • Mediastinal shift to R side

 

Recommendations

  • If pneumothorax not clear, lateral decubitus CXR / expiratory CXR should be done

  • Repeat imaging to confirm resolution.
